SW tourism finals beckon for Devon’s top holiday park
After taking the top gold honour in the recent Devon Tourism Awards, Ladram Bay Holiday Park is hoping to scale new heights at Exeter Cathedral next month.
The 315-foot tall cathedral will be the venue on 06 February for the announcement of the South West Tourism Excellence awards in front of a large invited audience.
And recently, the Budleigh Salterton park learned that judges have chosen Ladram Bay to feature among the finalists in the Holiday Park of the Year category.
It means that the family-owned business will be coming away with either a gold, silver or bronze award as one of the most highly-acclaimed parks in the South West.
Ladram Bay will also discover if it is to be fast-tracked into spring’s national Visit England awards where the top park in the whole of the country will be named.
More than 770 tourism businesses in the South West were considered for entry into the Exeter award finals, but only 107 places could be accepted.
The team of 50 judges whittled down the number by looking closely at each application, and by paying personal visits to 559 of the contenders.
Ladram Bay, they decided, was wholly deserving of a place in the final line-up.
“This is fantastic news, and we’ll all be keeping our fingers firmly crossed until the big night!” said Ladram Bay director Zoe House whose family has owned the park since 1943.
“The South West is recognised as England’s top region for holidays, so to be named as one of its four premier parks is a real honour,” she added.
In the earlier Devon Tourism Awards when Ladram Bay scooped the top gold award, judges declared that Ladram Bay was “a true leader of holiday parks in the South West.”
